Today, we successfully concluded the onboarding and training of our Community Mentors supporting adolescent children in Angwan Rukuba community. The training was delivered using the Save the Children Youth Resilience Program – Psychosocial Support In and Out of School, an evidence-based, eight-themed framework designed to help adolescents build resilience and thrive, even in challenging contexts.
Through this program, adolescents are supported to develop practical, context-relevant life skills such as decision-making, emotional management, effective communication, and building healthy interpersonal relationships. These competencies are critical for navigating everyday challenges and resisting negative influences that often undermine the healthy development of children in vulnerable communities.
By adopting the Youth Resilience Program, we are strengthening our intervention with a more structured and intentional support system, one that creates a reliable safety net for adolescents and promotes long-term positive outcomes.
The program is further reinforced through regular engagements with parents and caregivers, ensuring that the skills and resilience gained by adolescents are nurtured and sustained at home through positive parenting practices.
